Insight into microbiological structure and interaction is a pre-requisite for tailoring treatment & improving diagnostics of infectious diseases as well as of age-related deteriorations.
Fluorescence polarization microscopy & nanoscale infrared spectroscopy are powerful tools for structural investigation. We apply and advance both methods for complementary insight within crucial research fields ranging from polymicrobial infection to age-related degeneration of human retina, which we address together with our collaborators from microbiological and clinical research.
